BADCAP is a proud recipient of a RADF grant of $10,000. The RADF (Regional Arts Development Fund) grant is funded by the Queensland State Government in association with the Scenic Rim Regional Council. Along with BADCAP’s own contribution of $15,000, it forms $25,000 project to commission a new “Rowing on Wyaralong” sculpture at BADCAP’s Lake Wyaralong Scupture Park.

BADCAP are seeking Submissions with this Application Form from sculptors living in the Scenic Rim Regional Council and adjoining Queensland councils areas of Logan City Council, Gold City Council, Ipswich City Council, Southern Downs and Lockyer Valley Regional Councils.

BADCAP’s Sculpture Festival and Symposium held in September/October 2015 saw seven exceptional sculptors from Australia and overseas work onsite; consequently the Lake Wyaralong Sculpture Park was born with all the sculptures standing proudly on the hill overlooking the picturesque landscape of Wyaralong Dam.

Rowing Queensland has a visible presence at Lake Wyaralong with the establishment of the Queensland State Rowing Centre and BADCAP is searching for a sculpture that will reflect and draw inspiration from, as well as inspire, the Sport of Rowing on the dam. The sculpture could be representational or abstract, traditional or contemporary, whimsical or contemplative. The selection committee will be looking for something that captures the essence of the Sport of Rowing as enjoyed by thousands of people who visit the dam each year.

All details are on the BADCAP – Rowing on Wyaralong – Submission and Application Form. All Sculptors living in the areas specified are invited to forward their Application for this project by 31 August 2020. The winning submission will be announced on 5 September 2020.
It is envisaged that the sculpture should be ready for inspection by BADCAP members by 30 November 2020 with a launch date around 26 January 2021. The Queensland State Championship Rowing Regatta is scheduled to take place at Lake Wyralong on this day – the perfect atmosphere to launch a sculpture dedicated to the sport of rowing.
