About

After a 5 year break Arts in The Olives came back in 2022 as a two day outdoor community event , held at Olive View Estate : 58 Kulgun Rd, Kulgun (near Boonah) on Mothers Day weekend 7th & 8th May.

The weekend was a resounding success for participants and artists involved!

HISTORY of AITO

Historically Arts in the Olives was a much loved annual major art event, instigated and organised by the dedicated team at BADCAP ( Beaudesert and District Community Arts Project Inc), and was held on Mothers Day for 10 years between 2008-2017. Arts in the Olives incorporated arts workshops in a variety of disciplines such as blacksmithing, felting, pottery, bead making, photography and many more, with fun free children’s workshops and entertainment.

AITO was held in a shady Olive Grove on the banks of the Albert River at Lost World at the top of the Kerry Valley in the Scenic Rim from 2008 to 2017, and each year it had over 70 artists and local providers of workshops, artisan market stalls, food stalls and performances.

View of Arts in Olvies Festival

About 16 adult and 6 children’s workshops were offered at each event, providing a “low stress – high fun” way to explore and develop your creative side. Children’s workshops were free to promote an interest in the arts in young people – our future artists.

The philosophy of Arts in the Olives has always been to make creative activity accessible to as wide a group of people as possible by offering a pleasant and creative experience at minimal cost. Art in the Olives was a convivial celebration of arts and culture.

The festival also offered live music and showcased emerging local talent as well as hosting excellent food, wine tasting, and stalls selling beautiful hand made goods and local produce.

The Arts in the Olives developed arts practices in the community, was a showcase for local creativity and promoted the benefits of the creative arts.

The BADCAP team are committed to supporting artists and community, holding events and creating public art for the Scenic Rim into the future.
